The Bond Between Grandparents and Grandchildren

As you could see in my previous post we have had a grand new playground open up in our neighborhood. It was the brain child of Chastain Park Conservancy Vice Chairman Jay Smith. It has been a long road - over four years, in fact - to get this gargantuan task completed and one had to wonder how Jay kept the vision alive through all the ups and downs, and continues to raise the funds needed to complete it.

Then I met Jay's grandsons and all of my questions were answered. Will and Teddy Brody live in New York with their parents and can't make it to the grand opening this Saturday, but they have already tested the equipment and given it two thumbs up. They know their "Papa" built it with them in mind (and heart). So they sent along this sweet message to let their grandfather know how proud they are of him.

There is nothing like being a grandparent.

Ethan's grandmother gave him a gift of $25. He gave $20 to ATOP so more Atlanta kids will have great places to play. He kept $5 to get something cool for himself. We think Ethan is pretty cool!
