Parkour = Free Running....and Jumping!
Parkour is all about physical and mental discipline....and lots of fun. It's pretty new in the US, but growing. It takes practice, training, precision and focus. Obviously it needs to be done right. Can reading be play? Absolutely! It's play for your mind and your imagination. And, so is storytelling. See this picture? Get your kids to make up a story about the creatures here. Who are they? No Ideas for How to Build a Fort?
Leave it to the great Dwell Magazine to inspire! This is the Czech exhibit at the Venice Biennale and it is incredible. Everything was built from simple wooden slats. I love that they let the kids go to build whatever they wanted.…

There's a saying that goes "...sometimes quickly, sometimes slowly....". Today, after 2 or 3 years of work (I've lost track) Bethune ELementary School got a $200,000 grant to pay for the playground at our dream "Bethune's P.L.A.C.E." Kids, Schmids....I Want One of These for Me!
These forest huts are in Sweden that you can rent like a hotel room. They conjure up all kids, I mean, all kinds of feelings of magic and mystery...and coziness. I'd love to have one to curl up and read or write in...or maybe just to take a nap in. But, kids could have a hay day making a magic fort out of one of these.…

Play Champions of the Year
There just aren't enough words to thank the folks at Landscape Structures for all they are doing to make creative play happen for the children of Atlanta.
LSI took the new playground at Woodruff Park off of the drawing board and made it come alive. They made the PlayChastain Exploratorium happen for the families and children of north Atlanta.
Landscape Structures has gone above and beyond and their efforts are greatly appreciated.
Congratulations to LSI, ATOP's Play Champions of the Year 2012!
